Daily Mood Quotes - November 6, 2011

Daily Mood Quote
Day 186 – November 6, 2011

A man should never neglect his family for business.
~Walt Disney

Today was a good day, one I would like to repeat. But since that isn't possible, I'll take it for the great memory it will be tomorrow. Today was family day, which actually started last night by the family watching Disney's Beauty and The Beast, on the ABC Family Channel. When you watch this movie with little ones, it's cute and adorable. But, when you watch it with grown-ups the subtleties are hilarious and we laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. It was a good evening, my favorite part, it was free and came with popcorn, yummy.

Every once in a while you just need to cut out the hustle and bustle of the world, turn off the phone, set no agenda and just enjoy spending time together. We cleaned the house a bit, did some laundry, went grocery shopping and got haircuts. All while laughing, talking and just having some goofy family fun. Sorry to all those we may have offended by smiling and enjoying ourselves. Actually, I feel sorry for them, because to stay sane, you have to just relax and have some laughs once in a while. If someone misses that point, well they are missing the best parts of being alive. We all need the release of laughter and the freedom to remember that family is important. When you combine the two then you have something special, something powerful. Maya Angelou said, “My life has been one great big joke, a dance that's walked a song that's spoke, I laugh so hard I almost choke when I think about myself.”

I understand the times are serious and our challenges many. This isn’t the first time in history things were tough for so many, myself included. That said, hard times may come and go and all of our life is rhythms and counterpoint, but laughter is the score that we remember best. It's the thing that helps us through those tough times. To end the perfect day, a good football game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens. I hope my team plays well and wins.

If you can't find the laughter in your day, watch a good movie; here are some of my favorites; Arthur with Dudley Moore; Mrs. Doubtfire with Robin Williams and Major League with Charlie Sheen. They always make me laugh.

What will make you laugh today?

Daily Mood Quote - September 7, 2011

Daily Mood Quote
Day 127 – September 7, 2011

All the adversity I've had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me...You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.
~Walt Disney

This quote reminds me of the movie Baby Boom, when J.C. Wyatt (played by Diane Keaton) inherited a baby from a cousin she hadn't seem in many years. Because she chose to keep the baby, she lost her live-in boyfriend, her job and many of her associates. What's that old saying, “kick 'em when their down.” Well, she didn't stay down for very long. She came back bigger, better and stronger and showed all those who did the kicking, you can have it all. It was interesting to watch how the tables turned. Yes, it's a movie, but life can sometimes imitate movies and the same kind of success J.C. Wyatt achieved can be there for those who learn from adversity and apply that knowledge forward.

All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.
~Walt Disney

Having stepped off that cliff into the unknown, I understand the considerable courage it takes to pursue a dream. However, when we stand around and do little more than dream, nothing ever happens. Opportunity doesn't just show up because you dreamed. To be realized, dreams must be pursued and things must change. If you've got vision (dream), then you have the foundation of courage, it takes guts to propel yourself into the unknown. Then with courage and honest effort, all things are possible. Look at the Green Bay Packers, four Super Bowl trophies, 1967, 1968, 1997 and 2011 (against the Pittsburgh Steelers). “Never give-up, never-surrender!” (Thank you Tim Allen in Galaxy Quest).

I always like to look on the optimistic side of life, but I am realistic enough to know that life is a complex matter.
~Walt Disney

Nothing is ever perfect and with the positive we must also accept the not so positive. a few blogs ago, we talked “balance,” even when things are going well, there are challenges. With power and success comes responsibility. With happiness comes the possibility of sorrow. In peace, we must guard against conflict and so it goes, the balances of life. I believe the key; never let those challenges become a controlling factor in your attitude. Stay optimistic so that hope, courage, faith and dreams are not lost. The trick is to find a positive way to deal with the bad that lets you continue to move forward. So, “onward, upward and ever forward.” Always try to find one good thing in every day and remember the universe will always balance.

What will your Mickey Mouse attitude be today?

Daily Mood Quote - June 18, 2011

Daily Mood Quote
Day 45 – June 18, 2011

All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.

~Walt Disney

...if we think about the possibilities of what might be, “if only” then the sky of optimism becomes the limit.

Sorry I'm late today, we had a get together last night and we're just now starting to get back to normal. I thought, it's great to see the enthusiasm of youth. That's one thing that Walt Disney never lost. His vision of life was full of possibilities and his determination and courage to achieve those dreams not only left a legacy of fun for millions, it created an industry that continues to grow everyday. We can all be thankful for that. He dared to dream and dared to be different. Sometimes we tend to fall into the safe and familiar and some days that's OK. But, we need to continue to strive to reach and dream. That's what brings joy, enthusiasm and new energy to life. Conventional thinking says to stay the steady course, but that course only takes us back to where we were, not to where we can go.

In the movie Mr. Deeds, Longfellow Deeds (played by Adam Sandler) reminds stockholders of a time when they young and full of dreams by saying, “We all had these dreams, and then we got jobs to achieve those dreams. But we wanted more money, and we got rid of our dreams. You know, if your nine-year old self's saw you guys the way you are, you'd get your butts kicked right now! I mean, look what's happened to us!”

Life can come at us fast and furious, if we let it. We tend to forget, who has the power. Today, I choose to remember, I have the power to make my dreams come true. Remember, if you can dream it, you can do it.

What “childhood dreams” do you remember today?
